Registration is now open for the launch of the Brazilian Deprivation Index (IBP), which will take place on December 9, 2020, at 3 pm, in an online event, during Fiocruz’s Solutions Fair. The opening of the event will be attended by authorities from institutions such as Abrasco, Conasems, in addition to Fiocruz and the University of Glasgow, in Scotland, which had researchers who participated in the elaboration of the index.

The IBP is a new tool to measure inequalities in Brazil, which can be very useful for public managers, health professionals and researchers. IBP’s great differential compared to the other existing indices is the possibility of measuring inequalities in small areas within the municipalities – at the level of the census sectors – and throughout Brazil.

Among the participants at the opening table are: Nísia Trindade (Fiocruz), Alastair Leyland (University of Glasgow), Wilames Freire (Conasems) and Gulnar Azevedo (Abrasco). The mediation will be done by Maurício Barreto (Cidacs / Fiocruz Bahia).

Among the speakers of the webinar “Brazilian Privation Index (IBP): measuring social inequalities in small areas in Brazil” are: Paulo Gadelha (Fiocruz), Mirjam Allik (University of Glasgow), Elzo Júnior (Cidacs / Fiocruz Bahia), Regina Bernal (UFMG). The mediation will be done by Maria Yury Ichihara (Cidacs / Fiocruz Bahia).
