The accelerated emergence of cases of the new coronavirus, which led the World Health Organization (WHO) to declare a Public Health Emergency of International Importance, is the main theme of the February interview of the Observatory of Political Analysis in Health (OAPS), which has as a guest, the sanitary doctor, epidemiologist, professor and deputy director of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO / WHO), Jarbas Barbosa.

The former director-president of the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) and former secretary of Science, Technology and Strategic Inputs of the Ministry of Health commented on the importance of combating fake news with information based on scientific evidence, international efforts in the face of outbreak and health system responses, which face the challenge of dealing with public health emergencies while prioritizing other problems and demands.
