The second phase of the National Measles Vaccination Campaign begins this Monday (18) across the country. People, aged 20 to 29 years, are the target of this stage.

According to the latest measles epidemiological bulletin from the Ministry of Health, this age group is the one with the highest number of cases of the disease. In the last 90 days of active outbreak, 1,729 cases have been confirmed in people aged 20 to 29 years.

The Secretary of Health Surveillance, Ministry of Health, Wanderson de Oliveira, said that one reason is that this public did not take the vaccine at any stage of life and, if so, did not return to apply the second dose, necessary for the protection.

To reach this age group, the ministry has adopted some strategies. One of them is the realization of the second phase of the vaccination campaign in places with large circulation of these people. The action will be carried out jointly by the three levels of government: federal, state and municipal.
