The Longitudinal Study of Adult Health (ELSA-Brazil) is a multicenter cohort study that investigates the incidence and risk factors for chronic diseases, in particular, cardiovascular diseases and diabetes.

The ELSA cohort is made up of more than 15,000 employees from six public higher education and research institutions in the Northeast, South and Southeast regions of Brazil. In Bahia, the ELSA Research Center (CI – BA) is headquartered at ISC. More than 2,000 UFBA employees, including faculty and staff, are participating in the study.
